Extensive permitting was required for the proposed King Cove Access Project, a complex road and hovercraft transportation system linking the communities of Cold Bay and King Cove for the Aleutians East Borough.
OASIS prepared the project description and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers application for the project. OASIS also prepared mitigation plans for the road and hovercraft system, addressing fish and wildlife, marine mammals, fuel handling procedures, blasting, dust control and environmental oversight throughout the construction and operation of the system. OASIS reviewed all proposed river crossing structures and making recommendation on the type and size of each crossing structure. OASIS worked closely with the Department of fish and Game during the review. Additionally, the Borough was supported during the EIS process and provided expert advice on a range of permitting and environmental issues.
The project was successfully authorized.
